hello, london + oxford!

Oxford England #100DaysofMiaPrima
Back to the UK! After a two day “break” in the Netherlands, my sister and I headed back to the UK for a quick weekend trip to London and Oxford. We have both been to London before, so this weekend was filled with pleasantly tourist-y free events. Well, minus an Inspector Morse tour in Oxford that is! We explored Oxford’s classically British pubs, enjoyed (our now regular meal of) fish ’n chips, admired the University’s stunning architecture, and popped into charming bookstores. In London, we visited Camden Passage for great cafes, charity shops, and vintage finds. We stopped by Selfridge’s to experience the 100+ year old department store ourselves (and we’re not disappointed). And of course we took a leisurely stroll through Hyde Park for some people and pigeon watching (“Where are their nests? I mean, have you ever seen a baby pigeon?”).

I can only hope I’ll be back to the UK soon enough!

the gibbson girl european photoshoot

Besides having twice as much fun, hanging out with my twin sister also gives me the opportunity to use her as my model for my vintage Etsy shop, The Gibbson Girl. Usually, I photograph myself wearing the vintage styles that I sell in the online shop, but the process is usually tedious and well, not super fun. But I love taking photos of my sister wearing the clothes. Recently, we decked her out in some of my favorite European vintage finds and conducted a photoshoot among the cobblestone streets and narrow canals of Den Bosch.

I think we got some pretty darn good shots! Now you’ll have to check to back soon for these pieces on the Etsy shop. 🙂

tot ziens!

holland vs. the netherlands

Watch the below. Because I’ve met too many Americans who think the Netherlands is Norway.

hidden (vintage) treasures in europe

It feels like just yesterday that I opened my Etsy vintage clothing shop, The Gibbson Girl. But today, the shop boasts over fifty items for sale! And I haven’t stopped my search for unique vintage pieces while I’m in Europe. In fact, I’ve had some amazing opportunities to discover truly one-of-a-kind vintage items from unique locales. Here’s a sneak peek of what will be popping up on my shop from my European adventures:

bonjour, paris!

After three different trains (The Netherlands, Belgium, France), I’ve made it to Paris! I’ve walked over nine miles today while exploring the city (in the rain). Tomorrow morning I’ll be up bright and early to head to the Catacombs before visiting the Cimetière du Père-Lachaise (where Oscar Wilde in buried) as well a bike tour of the city.

going dutch

About nine months ago my twin sister visited Pittsburgh from The Netherlands, where she currently lives. I’m going to be honest, I always considered myself the more fashionable twin….until my sister soaked up European style and returned to the States in outfits I’m constantly envious of.  I’ll be visiting my sister in Amsterdam early next month and we’ll finally be reunited. But until then, the below photos from her last trip to Pgh were too good not to share.

Bonus points if you can tell who is who in these shots!

Great Finds: Espresso Cups

My sister studied in Austria, and as she travelled Europe, she collected espresso cups. Though they weren’t the easiest things to take back to the States (miraculously she only broke one), they do make great decoration pieces in our apartment. Here are a few of my favorites.

Ciao!
